Elsie's Favorite Recipes

True Domestic Goddesses are great hostesses. All Domestic Goddesses should have an arsenal of amazing recipes that they can make in case guests or mothers-in-law are visiting.  Here are some of my favorite recipes.

Cranberry Lemon Scones

3 c flour

1/2 c sugar

3 and 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 c dried cranberries

1 1/4 c heavy cream

for glaze:

3/4 c powdered sugar

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 tsp lemon zest

Place cream in the bottom of the mixer.

Mix all the dry ingredients together and

then place all the dry ingredients on top of

the cream.  Mix until just combined with a

paddle (on very low setting). I will usually

put lemon zest in the batter as well, and

Oranges can be substituted for lemon as

well.  Knead and pat into about 1" thick and

round. For large scones you would cut into

6 pieces, I usually cut in six and then cut

those into three.  Brush top with cream and

sprinkle with pretty sugar and bake at 325

(usually about 15-20 minutes).

Make the glaze and let them cool for a

minute before putting on glaze.
